Research areas

of the hydrogen research and innovation cluster in Occitanie

The RHyO cluster teams are working on 5 areas of research: production, storage, use, safety, hydrogen and society.

Production

Developing materials and processes, in particular electrolytic, thermochemical, photo (electro)-catalytic, biological and bio-electrocatalytic processes, for the production of carbon-free hydrogen.

Storage

Studying technologies likely to bring breakthrough innovations for compressed gas storage, solid and liquid hydrogen storage, and cryogenic liquid hydrogen storage.

Use

Developing new materials and processes for the electrochemical conversion of hydrogen by low- and high-temperature fuel cells, optimising hydrogen combustion materials and systems for heat production via a hydrogen boiler and for mobility.

Safety

Developing new hydrogen sensors and advancing our understanding of detonation through modelling.

Hydrogen & society

Studying the social and economic issues associated with the deployment of hydrogen technologies: production, storage and use.
