RHyO,
Hydrogen research and innovation cluster in Occitanie
Low-carbon hydrogen as a key element in the energy transition
As part of the Occitanie Region’s « Défis Clés », aimed at structuring the regional scientific community around the theme of ‘low-carbon hydrogen’, higher education establishments and research bodies have joined forces to create the Hydrogen Research and Innovation Cluster in Occitanie (RHyO Cluster), led by the Toulouse Community of Universities and Establishments.
Working closely with industry, the cluster aims to develop technologies to meet the many scientific, technological and societal challenges posed by the development of carbon-free or ‘green’ hydrogen.
With nearly 130 researchers working in some twenty research laboratories, the RHyO cluster aims to nurture the industrial and economic ecosystem by providing knowledge and skills of excellence related to hydrogen.
Initiated and funded by
As part of the regional RePOS (positive energy region) strategy, in 2019 the Occitanie Region set up a €150 million green hydrogen plan spread over several stages up to 2030.
The « Défis Clés Occitanie » : the future of research takes shape in Occitanie
Initiated by the Region in 2020, the « Défis Clés Occitanie » bring together 15 research programmes, each focusing on strategic areas of the future in line with the regional ambitions of the Green Pact. This new and ambitious programme is based on a close partnership with regional players in research and higher education. A real catalyst for regional excellence, find out how the « Défis Clés Occitanie » are shaping the future of Occitanie.
